Urban violence and mental health of young adults in Paraguay
Abstract
Globally, urban violence has become a major public health concern. Research highlights that violence is a significant risk factor for the mental health of individuals. Exposure to traumatic events related to urban violence, such as assaults, robberies, or interpersonal violence, can have serious mental health consequences. In the continental context, Latin America has been especially affected by urban violence. Epidemiological studies in Latin American countries have shown that urban violence is associated with an increased risk of anxiety, stress and depression disorders in young and adult populations.
