The project "Strengthening the Research and Dissemination of Wheat Crop in Paraguay", supported by a public-private partnership (IPTA-CAPECO-INBIO) is dedicated to creating technologies that adapt to the local production environment, are economically sustainable and responsive to market demands. The objective of this study is to describe the characteristics of three new wheat varieties released by the project. The genetic materials (E-12327, E-14979 and E-09857) selected locally between 2012 and 2015 were named Canindé 31, Itapúa 90 and Itapúa 95 respectively. These were included in the Regional Yield Trials at three locations: Capitán Miranda, Department of Itapúa, Minga Guazú, Department of Alto Paraná and Yhovy, Department of Canindeyú, representing different agro-ecological conditions to study their adaptation and agronomic performance. In addition, the three genotypes were evaluated for their crop cycle, yield potential, resistance to diseases and pests and industrial quality. The new varieties were listed in the National Register of Commercial Cultivars and National Register of Protected Cultivars in the National Service of Quality and Plant and Seed Health (SENAVE) for commercial release in 2018.
