Abstract
The Professional Approach I course of the Social Work Career of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the National University of Asuncion, aims to develop the work category and its importance in professional training. This essay initiates the reflection of the work category as a constituent of the social being and from it to understand, interpret and comprehend the contradictions that occur in the capitalist system and how it affects people’s lives mainly in the social, economic, political, cultural and other areas. In this context, the analysis of the Social Worker professional is located, as a worker who is inserted in the socio-technical division of labor, with a relative autonomy, a situation that limits his professional practice, but at the same time strengthens it since it allows interacting with social actors of different strata in constant contribution to the improvement of the living conditions of families through his professional work.
