Abstract
Background: Currently, it is required to approach teaching as a process of learning orientation. To provide the conditions so that they not only appropriate the knowledge, but also acquire skills, values and strategies to obtain the capacity to act independently. Determine the preferences with respect to teaching methods in medical students of then Universidad Nacional de Asunción, Paraguay.
Methods: Analytical cross-sectional observational study, non-probabilistic sampling for convenience, from August to October 2020, of 171 surveys corresponding to medical students of the National Universi- ty of Asuncion. Questionnaire of students’ perception towards pro- blem-based learning and traditional lectures was applied.
Results: 171 surveys were analyzed. Ages between 20 and 31 years (21,866± 1,6185). A significant difference is found for the mean of the subscale of Knowledge (t=6,716 p=0,000), Attitudes (t=10,570 p=0,000), Skills (t=12,517 p=0,000) and Satisfaction (t=11,296 p=0,000) perceived with the ABP method than with the Magisterial Conference method.
Conclusion: In this paper, the preference for classes taught with the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method was highlighted, in compari- son with traditional master classes teaching.
