Abstract

The research presents the resettlement experience of the families of “Cerrito Cara Cara” neighborhood, in the “Bañado Norte”, who opted for definitive housing on a property, adjacent to the “Bella Vista Treatment Plant”. In recent years, Asuncion bay has been benefited/affected by various works, mainly linked to the development of road infrastructure, water and sanitation among others. The objective of the research was to analyze the experience of the resettled families and the work of the social technical team that designed and implemented the “Cerrito Cara Cara Resettlement Plan”, the research is methodologically qualitative and includes the complete speeches. These were interpreted, analyzing the relationship between the persons. It is also descriptive because a scientific method was used, that involves observing and describing the behavior of a group of persons, without influencing them in any way. A specific area composed of population with similar characteristics was taken. The population benefited from the implementation of the Resettlement Plan such as key actors, technicians and reference beneficiaries with a level of involvement were interviewed. Through this procedure, valid data for the analysis was obtained. Resettlement were considered, highlighting that the lifestyle of the families changed radically, since they were able to access quality living conditions, with coverage of basic services, formalization and permanence in the same area, several families resumed and maintained their initial work activities, their children were able to continue their studies in nearby schools, and were able to health, recreation and transportation. For the social technicians it represented a valid and significant learning experience, which included sustained support and articulation.
