Author Guidelines

SUBMISSION OF MANUSCRIPTS

Those interested in submitting their manuscripts must register as an author on the website of the Journal “Investigaciones y Estudios - UNA” https://revistascientificas.una.py/index.php/rdgic/login or on the journal's portal https://revistascientificas.una.py/index.php/rdgic/about/submissions and enter the article submission system.

The article or manuscript submitted for publication, original and unpublished, should not be submitted to any other journal during the editorial process.

In the same submission, the manuscript must be accompanied by the Cover Letter (Download, complete, sign and attach with the article to be submitted to the journal) written by the main author and/or correspondence author explaining the unpublished character, type of manuscript (original, review article, short communications, etc.) and that it was not sent simultaneously to another journal.

Contributions may be submitted in Spanish, Portuguese and English. Manuscripts submitted in Spanish and Portuguese must present the titles, abstracts and legend of tables and figures in English. If the manuscript is in English, these items should be presented in Spanish.

TYPES OF SCIENTIFIC CONTRIBUTIONS

The journal will receive: a) Original articles; b) Review articles; c) Case reports; d) Letters to the Editor; e) Any contribution that the Editorial Committee considers of interest for publication (Abstracts of congresses, conferences or scientific meetings, reflections, opinions, essays, standards and technical specifications, pre-published or pre-printed articles).

Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • The submission must be original and unpublished, has not been previously published, and is not under review by another journal or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.
  • The manuscript's authors must have a unique identifier (ORCiD).
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, as found in the "About the Journal" section.
  • Tables, figures, diagrams, images, and photographs must be cited within the manuscript rather than at the end.
  • The submission must be in a Microsoft Word-compatible and editable electronic document (Download the Template here), with line numbering, A4 size (212x297), or LaTex format depending on the field of study, without letterhead, using 11-point Tahoma font, left margin of 2 cm, justified text, top, bottom, and right margins of 1.5 cm, and 1.5 line spacing.
  • Wherever possible, provide URLs for the references.

REVIEW ARTICLES

Se dará prioridad a aquellos trabajos de revisión que se centren en temas de actualidad establecidas por el Comité Editorial. Se aceptarán dos tipos de revisiones, las narrativas y las sistemáticas. En ambos casos, debe presentar una revisión bibliográfica de por lo menos 50 referencias. La extensión máxima del texto será de 9.000 palabras y se admitirán hasta 7 figuras o tablas. Las del tipo narrativa, deben incluir: Título; Resumen, con una extensión no superior a las 250 palabras; Palabras clave, entre 3 y 5; Desarrollo del tema; Conclusión; Referencias bibliográficas.

Para las revisiones sistemáticas se exigen la presentación de una lista de verificación y una figura de las directrices de presentación de informes pertinentes, incluida la lista de verificación y el diagrama de flujo de PRISMA o la extensión de PRISMA más adecuada para las variaciones de la metodología estándar. El diagrama de flujo debe incluirse en el cuerpo principal del texto y la lista de comprobación debe proporcionarse como un archivo adicional; tanto el diagrama de flujo como la lista de comprobación deben referenciarse en el texto. Los envíos recibidos sin estos elementos serán devueltos a los autores como incompletos. Se puede descargar un archivo de Word con la lista de comprobación y el diagrama de flujo Aquí.

Se entiende que, en el caso de algunas revisiones sistemáticas, algunos aspectos del informe pueden no cumplir plenamente con la lista de verificación PRISMA. La lista de comprobación no se utilizará como herramienta para juzgar la idoneidad de los manuscritos para su publicación, lo que se pretende es ser una ayuda para que los autores hagan saber a los revisores y a los lectores de forma clara, completa y transparente lo que los autores hicieron y encontraron.

Las secciones que deben tener son: Título, Resumen (PRISMA extensión), antecedentes, métodos, resultados, discusión, conclusiones, lista de abreviaturas, declaraciones

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

Son manuscritos cortos solicitando aclaraciones o presentando comentarios sobre el material publicado recientemente en la revista o sobre temas de actualidad. En este caso se permitirá un máximo de 2 páginas, una tabla o figura y cinco referencias bibliográficas. La decisión sobre la publicación de las cartas recibidas queda a discreción del Comité Editorial de la revista, pueden encontrar las consideraciones para su redacción Aquí.
