Abstract
This research analyzes the importance of integrating research, extension, and academics in higher education, taking the Faculty of Humanities and Education Sciences of the National University of Concepción (UNC) as a reference. In Paraguay, the National Constitution and Law No. 136/2013 establish that universities must develop these three functions in an interconnected manner. However, at the aforementioned faculty, these activities are carried out in isolation, which affects the comprehensive training of students. Through a qualitative approach and a propositional methodology, key documents such as extension, research, and academic projects were analyzed, allowing the identification of areas for improvement. A proposal was presented to strengthen the articulation among the three pillars, aiming to enhance educational quality and social commitment. The proposal was approved by the faculty’s Board of Directors, and its implementation began in the second semester of 2024. The impact evaluation will be conducted at the end of the year to assess its outcomes. The study concludes that integrating these three pillars is essential for training competent professionals committed to community development.
