Publication Ethics and Integrity

Anales de la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas promotes integrity, transparency, and accountability in scientific research and publishing. Its policies are guided by COPE principles, ICMJE recommendations, and international standards applicable to biomedical publishing. Reference to these organizations does not imply institutional membership.

Practices contrary to editorial and research integrity include:

• Plagiarism or use of third-party material without appropriate attribution.
• Fabrication, falsification, or misleading manipulation of data and images.
• Duplicate or redundant publication and unjustified fragmentation of results.
• Inappropriate authorship, undisclosed conflicts of interest, or manipulation of citations and peer review.
• Submission of false or insufficient ethical documentation.
• Use of artificial intelligence to fabricate data, references, images, or misleading scientific content.

Manuscripts may be examined using similarity-detection software. The similarity percentage is an auxiliary indicator and does not automatically determine plagiarism or the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript.

Suspected breaches will be assessed confidentially, impartially, and proportionately. The journal may request explanations and supporting documentation and will allow the individuals involved an opportunity to respond.

Depending on the available evidence and seriousness of the case, measures may include correction, suspension of the evaluation, rejection, an expression of concern, retraction, or communication with the relevant institution. Procedures will be consistent with COPE and ICMJE recommendations.
