About the Journal
ANALES Journal of the Faculty of Medical Sciences
The ANALES Journal of the Faculty of Medical Sciences – National University of Asunción is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal operating under a continuous publication model. It is published by the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the National University of Asunción through its Editorial Office (EFACIM).
Its mission is to disseminate original, relevant, and methodologically rigorous scientific research in the field of medical sciences and related disciplines, contributing to academic, clinical, and public health development at both national and international levels.
The journal adheres to the principles of scientific integrity, editorial transparency, and international best practices in scholarly publishing. All published articles are assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through Crossref, ensuring persistent identification and standardized citation worldwide.
ANALES guarantees editorial independence throughout all stages of the publication process, including manuscript evaluation, peer review, and editorial decision-making, free from interference by the publishing institution or any commercial, political, or external entity.
Manuscripts are accepted exclusively through the ANALES Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform.

Publication Model
ANALES follows a continuous publication model. Articles are published immediately upon completion of all editorial stages, reducing the time between acceptance and dissemination.
The journal publishes one annual volume under a continuous publication workflow.
Open Access and Licensing
All content is published under immediate open access in accordance with the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), which permits use, distribution, adaptation, and reproduction in any medium, provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors and source.
Peer Review Process
All manuscripts undergo external double-blind peer review, ensuring confidentiality, impartiality, and evaluation based solely on scientific merit.
Reviewers are selected exclusively on the basis of their subject-matter expertise, scientific track record, and absence of conflicts of interest.
Editorial Workflow
- Initial editorial assessment (scope, relevance, and compliance with submission requirements)

- Author revision, when applicable
- Secondary review, if required
- Final editorial decision based on scientific and ethical criteria
Editorial Decisions

Open Science
The journal embraces Open Science principles and promotes:
- Acceptance of manuscripts previously deposited as preprints
- Responsible sharing of research data
- Use of persistent identifiers (DOI, ORCID)
- Methodological transparency and research reproducibility
Authors are encouraged to include a Data Availability Statement in original research articles. Such a statement may be required when appropriate to the nature of the study.
Artificial Intelligence
The journal recognizes the growing use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in academic and editorial activities.
Authors are encouraged to disclose any significant use of AI tools in the writing, analysis, translation, or editing of manuscripts. AI tools do not meet authorship criteria and cannot be listed as authors.
Reviewers and editors must preserve manuscript confidentiality and avoid the use of external platforms that could compromise the protection of scientific information.
The use of AI within the editorial process is limited to technical support functions and does not replace human scientific or editorial evaluation.
