Abstract

Background: Malignant fibrohistiocytoma (FHM) is a sarcoma type neoplasm; It is a type of neoplasms of unknown origin that appears in both the soft and bone parts.

The case: A 55-year-old female patient presented with pain and functional impotence of the left femur; in addition to a pulmo­nary metastasis, after 3 chemotherapies, that enters into plans of knee endoprosthesis. The patient is a carrier of malignant fi­brohistiocytoma.

Conclusion: It is an uncommon tumor, of great aggression that can appear in relation to other bone lesions, of unfavorable prog­nosis and short survival. For the treatment, it is currently accep­ted that preoperative chemotherapy should be administered and favor the appearance of calcifications. If possible, the surgery should be extensive; The contribution with the collaboration of this type of implants is that the patient was able to heal from his condition without losing the functionality of the affected mem­ber.
