Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Editorial Standards, which appear in About the Journal.
- Information required from authors includes their full names, institutional affiliation detailing both the department and organisation linked to the work, the author's email address for correspondence, and ORCID identifiers for all participants. For those who do not yet have an ORCID, a direct link to the registration page is provided: https://orcid.org/signin . This data is essential for the publication process and ensures proper attribution and contact.
- To start the publication process, it is necessary for those who wish to publish to register on the journal's platform. In case they already have a previous registration, they can log in and start the application process.
- The text submitted must be anonymous. Information about the authors should be sent through the Carta de Autoría.
- Format the text according to APA editorial standards, 7th edition. For examples: https://apastyle.apa.org/
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
Academic Articles
These are articles that disseminate rigorous theoretical essays, findings and conclusions of research that has been completed or is nearing completion. The organisation of the text contains an introduction, the statement of the problem, the theoretical-methodological basis, the presentation of the evidence and its analysis, as well as the conclusions. The articles must be preceded by an abstract and five keywords, in Spanish and English (abstract and keywords) and contain between 7000 and 8500 words. Articles are subject to peer review.
Original Articles
They are reports of original research. The organisation of the text contains an introduction with background, problem statement, general objective, frame of reference, methodology, results and discussion and conclusion. The articles must be preceded by an abstract and five key words, in Spanish and English (abstract and keywords). They contain between 3000 and 3500 words. Articles are subject to peer review.
Research Notes
These are short articles in which ideas, problems or preliminary findings related to an ongoing research project are presented. They include the presentation of empirical evidence, theoretical and methodological approaches, summaries of field work, as well as critical reviews of the state of the art in a topic. Research notes must be preceded by an abstract and keywords in English and Spanish. They should contain between 3000 and 4000 words.
Policy Notes
These are texts that contain proposals for public advocacy and social intervention based on empirical evidence. They contain between 1000 and 2000 words.
Brief Essays
These are academic texts, reviews of the literature on a subject, practical work involving writing. They do not require an abstract or key words. They contain between 2000 and 3000 words. This section is aimed at people in training.
Biography
It is a biographical genre that aims to present the life and work of a relevant person in the academic field, highlighting the career of researchers, teachers, managers or outstanding personalities in the field of knowledge. It contains a maximum of 1000 words. This section should be consulted to the Editorial Committee at cuadernos_sociologia@facso.una.py
Exchanges
These are papers presented at academic events, interviews, right of reply, among others. It contains a maximum of 1000 words.
Review
They are summaries and critical comments on books or published reports (ECLAC or UNESCO reports). They contain between 1000 and 2000 words.
