About the Journal
The Cuadernos de Sociología see the light at the end of the 2020 academic year, a period that constituted a particular scenario, namely, that of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, constituting a context that raised questions about the international order, capitalist development and its historical-concrete features, the state of socioeconomic inequalities, the health problem, the environment and life, as well as the question of education, science and culture. In this way, concentrating its attention on the specific scenario, it does not neglect its broader framework, which gives it its proper meaning as a university academic publication: the interpellation on the epistemic status of sociology in Paraguay, its place in the scientific field and its contributions to well-being, equality and democracy. These aspects, essential in any search for articulation between academia and society, find in the Notebooks a space for channeling ideas, theoretical and methodological perspectives, above all, explorations around a discipline, profession and trade that have in the dialectic of the theoretical and the empirical, the possibility of contributing to the strengthening, both of Sociology and of the social sciences in Paraguay.
