Total energy expenditure (TEE) comprises basal energy expenditure, also called basal metabolic rate, physical activity and endogenous thermogenesis. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines TEE as "the level of energy required to maintain the balance between energy intake and energy expenditure. It is important for the student to know their energy requirements, so that their diet correctly supports their activities for better development, as well as for the administration it is necessary to know the needs of their students.
An observational, prospective, cross-sectional study was carried out by means of an online survey of students of the Faculty of Medical Sciences attending the Basic Sciences building between 18 and 25 years of age.
