Abstract

This paper makes a brief review of the contributions of Tomás Palau Viladesau (1944-2012) to the analysis of rural development in Paraguay, his contribution to social studies involves elements for academic reflection given the continuous transformation of rural spaces. It proposes to think of rural development as a right, understanding it in relation to the Paraguayan socio-economic structure, as a complex and multidimensional process that implies changes in the social, economic, political, cultural and environmental order towards the improvement of rural spaces and the lives of the people who inhabit them, as a theoretical organizer rural development involves and combines multiple categories of analysis.
