Abstract
Background: In Paraguay, traffic accidents are the main cause of mortality. Thus, obtaining detailed information of a predisposing factor such as stress, is essential in preventing this type of situation. The degree of job satisfaction directly affects the stress level that a person can experience throughout their working hours.
Methods: We applied an observational, descriptive, crosssectional study, with simple random sampling. The established level of significance was 95% confidence interval. The sample size (n) was 70 drivers (public buses and taxi) in Asunción and the Greater Asunción (Paraguay). The General Job Satisfaction Scale and the Psychosomatic Problems Questionnaire (QPP) were used. Data obtained in this study were loaded on the Microsoft Excel and subsequently analyzed statistically.
Results: Of the total respondents (n= 70 drivers), 14% have stress (the remaining 86% are negative to stress), and 6% are not satisfied with their work environment (the remaining 94% presented a positive degree of satisfaction).
Conclusion: The aim of the study was to establish a foundation related to the prevalence of stress and the level of job satisfaction, in this field. This would allow for future studies of a greater statistical power or analytical strain that might provide a clearer understanding of stress triggers in this population
