Overweight and obesity in students of the Medical School of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the National University of Caaguazú

Introduction: Overweight and obesity could be the effects of inappropriate nutrition; which has as a consequence the presentation of excessive accumulation of fat, which would be detrimental to health. In this study, 35% of the students are over- weight and 10% obese.
Objective: Describe the frequency of overweight and obesity in students of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the National University of Caaguazú.
Material and method: Descriptive, cross- sectional study based on data collected by measuring the anthropometric measure- ments of the students.
Results: The study observed a total of 45% of the students with a weight within the normal range, 35% of the students are overweight, and 10% obese.
Conclusion: The present study carried out in the year 2022 at the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the National University of Caaguazú exposed that there is a higher frequency of students with overweight and in a lesser proportion with obesity.
