Prevalence of congenital heart disease in pediatric patients of the pediatric patients at the Regional Hospital of Coronel Oviedo

Introduction: Congenital heart defects are structural changes in the heart or great vessels with potential for dysfunction. It is estimated that 2 to 4% of newborns have birth defects. Congenital heart defects are the most common and account for 30% of the total.
Objective: To determine the prevalence of congenital heart disease in pediatric pa tients at the Regional Hospital of Coronel Oviedo in the period 2020-2022.
Methods:descriptive, retrospective study based on statistical data provided by the Department of Statistics of the Regional Hospital of Coronel Oviedo period 2020- 2022.Results: A total of 7 cases of congenital heart disease in newborns registered in the period 2020-2022 were observed in the study. Of the 7 patients, 5/7 were female. The age range of the patients was from 1 to 48 hours of life, with the mode being 2 hours of life.Conclusions.
Conclusion: The present study carried out in the period 2020-2022 in the Regional Hospital of Coronel Oviedo showed that the prevalence of congenital heart disease in the Regional Hospital of Coronel Oviedo is 0.8 per 1000 live births.Key words: Congenital heart disease, patent ductus, pediatric patients.
