Addressing predatory publishing: impacts and challenges

El alto índice de crecimiento de las publicaciones académicas ha ido acompañado del auge de revistas depredadoras y conferencias engañosas, que amenazan la integridad de la investigación al anteponer los beneficios económicos a la rigurosa revisión por pares y a los estándares editoriales. Nuestro estudio examina las características y las repercusiones de las publicaciones depredadoras, destacando las dificultades para definir e identificar este tipo de revistas debido a sus características similares a las de las revistas legítimas. Explora la influencia de los modelos de acceso abierto y la vulnerabilidad de los investigadores ante las prácticas depredadoras. El análisis aborda características operativas, como la composición del consejo editorial, las discrepancias en la revisión por pares, las tácticas de captación y las métricas engañosas, así como dimensiones tecnológicas, como la explotación de la inteligencia artificial para la generación de manuscritos y las decisiones editoriales automatizadas. Se evalúan críticamente las limitaciones de las listas negras y blancas, junto con las soluciones emergentes que implican la tecnología blockchain y las herramientas de detección basadas en la inteligencia artificial. Este trabajo presenta una visión general crítica que pretende informar en lugar de estigmatizar, integrando perspectivas y evidencias actuales.
