Abstract

This article presents the systematization of a pedagogical experience centered on the incorporation of social cartography as a formative tool in Social Work. The study was conducted in the second-year Integrated Workshop course at the “Remedios Escalada de San Martín” Higher Institute of Social Work (Corrientes, Argentina) during the 2025 academic year. The aim was to reconstruct and critically interpret the students’ formative process in order to identify which professional competencies were strengthened and how their understanding of territory changed. Using a qualitative and interpretive approach, the process of a purposive sample of 13 students was analyzed through semi-structured interviews, documentary analysis of programs, field notes, and data matrices. The findings reveal a shift from a “mythical knowledge”—which reduces the territory to a physical container—to a socio-historical and relational conception. It is concluded that social cartography functions as a tool for pedagogical decolonization that strengthens intentional observation, active listening, and practice-based planning in pre-professional training.
