Abstract
This study aims to analyse the living conditions of children and adolescents who participate in the activities of the Chacarita Community Centre, operated by the Archdiocesan Social Pastoral and located in the Ricardo Brugada neighbourhood of Asunción. The research emerged from the institutional need to develop an updated socioeconomic database on the children and adolescents involved in the centre’s various programmes. In response to this need, a comprehensive questionnaire was designed to gather information on sociodemographic, socioeconomic, and community participation aspects, targeting children and adolescents living in the area. In addition, interviews were conducted with their families. Fieldwork was carried out in several sectors of the Ricardo Brugada neighbourhood, including Pelopincho, San Felipe, Barrio Chino, and 3 de Febrero, among others. This investigation constitutes a systematic approach to the living conditions of children and adolescents in the Ricardo Brugada neighbourhood. The process was carried out within the framework of the university outreach project of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FACSO-UNA), with the participation of teaching staff from three core subjects of the Social Work programme and students from the same programme. The data collected made it possible to identify critical factors that shape living and subsistence conditions in these territories, providing relevant inputs for the design of more effective social policies and interventions.
