Abstract
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis, lung involvement is the most frequent, but it can affect any organ of the economy. We report the case of a 42 - year - old male, baseline hypertensive patient, who presented with a 6 - month course of feverish sensation, cough and progressive dyspnea. A pericardial effusion is observed, a pericardial
window is made before the imminence of a cardiac tamponade, and later the granulomatous etiology of the effusion is confirmed by histopathology; Which is confirmed by detection by Polymerase Chain Reaction positive for Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Multibacillary treatment begins with the scheme of the World Health Organization, with which it presents optimal evolution. In countries endemic to cases of pericardial effusion, especially of rapid reproduction, tuberculous etiology should always be considered as a possible cause.
